Robert Cimmino is an associate in Watt Tieder’s McLean, Virginia office concentrating his practice in the areas of construction litigation, suretyship and government contracts. He joined Watt Tieder in 2023 after spending two years working as an associate at a general litigation firm in Fairfax, Virginia.

Robert received his J.D. and Master’s in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh where he focused on alternative dispute resolution and international arbitration. He also holds an L.L.M. in International Arbitration and Business Law from the American University Washington College of Law. During law school, he worked as a judicial intern with Justice David Wecht of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. He also served as the Notes Editor on the Pittsburgh Tax Review and CFO of PLISF, a non-profit raising funds to support scholarships for law students taking unpaid summer positions in the public interest. Robert competed in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and continues to coach the University of Pittsburgh team.

Robert is an adjunct professor at George Mason School of Law teaching international commercial arbitration and also works pro bono with the Commercial Law Development Program of the United States Department of Commerce, conducting lectures and training seminars on international arbitration and commercial law in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia.
