James Timko is an associate with Watt Tieder in McLean, Virginia.  James concentrates his practice in construction litigation, suretyship law, and government contracts.  He has experience representing contractors in a wide range of matters, including breach of contract, delay, defective design, and differing site condition claims.  Additionally, James represents sureties in federal court as well as administrative proceedings, particularly in connection with payment and performance bond claims.  Through his practice, James has gained valuable experience handling complex discovery issues, conducting surety investigations, managing pre-trial practice, and resolving matters through alternative dispute resolution.

James graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.  In law school, James served as an editor for the Pittsburgh Tax Review as well as a Legal Analysis & Writing teaching assistant.  He also completed internships for the Honorable Steven N. Berk of the Superior Court for the District of Columbia and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania.  James joined Watt Tieder in 2023 after working as an associate at a firm based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he practiced commercial litigation.
