Charles Cauffman is an associate in the Irvine, California office of Watt Tieder, where his practice focuses on construction litigation, government contracts, and suretyship law. Charles has extensive experience representing contractors in complex disputes involving delay claims, mechanic’s liens, and payment and performance bond matters.

Prior to joining Watt Tieder, Charles represented both general contractors and subcontractors in California state court litigation, with a particular emphasis on construction defect and breach of contract claims involving residential and commercial construction projects. He also has a strong background in insurance litigation, with experience handling both first-party and third-party coverage disputes, and has successfully defended insureds in a broad range of civil matters in California state and federal courts.

Charles earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law. He holds a Master of Arts in History, with a concentration in Ancient and Medieval History, from California State University, Fullerton, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine.
