Calvin Brown is an attorney in Watt Tieder’s Chicago office. He focuses his practice on construction and surety litigation while drawing on his extensive experience litigating complex commercial matters and product-liability claims.

Before joining Watt Tieder, Calvin practiced at a national law firm in Chicago, where he regularly represented Fortune 500 companies as well as large commercial landlords in significant matters in federal and state court.  He also previously served as a public defender in Chicago, where he gained substantial trial and advocacy experience.  Prior to commencing his legal career, Calvin worked for a real estate capital advisory firm, assisting developers, investors, and construction companies in procuring and structuring debt and equity financing solutions for commercial real estate developments.

Calvin earned his J.D. from Boston College Law School, where he served as a student attorney in the Commercial Enterprise Clinic assisting entrepreneurs with entity formation, intellectual-property protection, and business launch matters. Prior to law school, Calvin attended Ohio Wesleyan University, where he double majored in philosophy and political science and was a member of the varsity lacrosse team. Calvin comes from a family of litigators: his grandfather, father, and several aunts and uncles are all practicing attorneys.

Outside the office, Calvin is an assistant coach for the varsity lacrosse team at DePaul College Prep.
